- Be sure to get rid of items that you have been meaning to get rid of by having a garage sale or giving them to good will.
- On the day of loading, try to make arrangements to have children and pets out of harms way.
- Be sure nothing has been unintentionally left behind before the driver leaves.
- Send change of address cards to friends and family and notify the post office of your move.
- Remember to have your utilities (gas, electric, water, trash, telephone, cable) turned off at your current home the day after your move and have them turned on at your new home the day before your move.
- Disconnect telephone service the day after your load as communications can be very important of the day of loading.
- When unpacking breakables, do them over the box you're taking them out of. In case you drop them, they will land on packing material and reduce the chance of breakage.
- Before plugging in your computer at your new home, let it adjust to the temperature.
- Change your insurance coverage for auto, home, medical and life.
